AMD Ryzen5 5650U vs Intel i5-1334U

I owned HP Elitebook laptop (855 G8 model) with AMD Ryzen5 5650U for about 2 years. Laptop itself is quite “ok” – screen is “ok” (IPS, so colors are not bad), you can replace battery yourself (ordered one from AliExpress and that lasted for 5-6 hours), you can upgrade RAM (laptop has 2 slots and memory is not soldered, I had 32GB ram in there) and you can replace SSD (I personally used 2TB Samsung drive without any issues).

Laptop is good, but some tasks, like Lightroom and running multiple VMWare machines sometimes was a bit slow, so when newer model (ProBook 450 G10) with newer generation CPU came out – I was really keen to get it. This model is with Intel i5-1334U and as all benchmarks suggest – it should be 15% to 30% faster, than my old AMD.

The chasis is the same. In fact – I like keyboard on G10 ProBook more, than on EliteBook. I was able to put the same RAM and SSD from my EliteBook.

But CPU performance is barely the same! Guys, beware. When I am not doing anything serious – it feels quite fast and snappy, but once you load it heavily – it struggles a lot! There’s absolutely no increase in performance (well, may be 5% at max) and I would certainly not suggest doing this upgrade.

Battery life is not even close to the advertised time. I can barely get 4 hours from it running on battery. Honestly – I was expecting much more. Very disappointed.

More comments – really disappointed on battery life and performance. Older Ryzen was performing much better! So far I see no reason to go with HP Intel based laptops. For me it was waste of money. Search on Reddit – you will see more people complaining about it.
