Test your hosting disk and network speed

Speed of your page loading depends on various factors – how “heavy” your scripts are, what CPU is installed on your server, amount of RAM, speed of disks and network connection speed. Load time depends on each of them, that is true, but fast disks and fast internet connection could make a significant difference!

It is quite easy to test local disk speed and network speed if you have shell access to your server. Just run this simple command:

wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash

On my VPS right now I am getting average 8MB/s (well, seems I am on 100mbit network) and average of 420MB/s disk speed (yes, I am on SSD server!). So far so good!
